This American White Ash planed square edge skirting board is machined from solid premium North American hardwood, top joinery FAS grade, with clean, planed square edges for a minimalist look, easy to finish or detail on site. Each pack contains 10 lengths of 20 x 120mm x 2.7m, giving 27 linear metres of skirting to finish the junction between wall and floor.
Why choose American White Ash skirting boards
American White Ash is a pale, creamy-white hardwood with a bold, straight grain and a clean, contemporary look. It is hard, strong and shock-resistant, and it takes oils, stains, lacquers and paint beautifully. FAS (First and Seconds) is the top grade of North American hardwood: long, clear, largely knot-free boards chosen for fine joinery.
How much skirting board do I need?
Measure the perimeter of the room, subtract door openings and add around 10% for mitres and offcuts. One pack gives 27m, so a typical 4 x 4m bedroom (about 14m of wall after a door) needs around 1 pack of 10. The 120mm height suits most modern homes and rooms with standard ceiling heights.
How to fit skirting board
Acclimatise the boards indoors for 48 hours. Mitre internal and external corners (or scribe internal corners for a tighter fit), then fix with grab adhesive and/or pins, nails or screws into the wall. Pre-drill hardwood to avoid splitting and check for hidden cables and pipes before fixing. Fill, sand lightly and finish.
Finishing
Supplied kiln dried, factory sanded and sealed, ready for your chosen oil, wax, stain, lacquer or paint. Hardwoods such as ash and oak look superb with a clear hard wax oil or lacquer that shows off the grain.
