Timber trellis and garden lattice
A trellis panel is the simplest way to add height, privacy and greenery to a garden. Fixed to a wall, used as a fence topper or set between posts as a screen, timber trellis supports climbers such as clematis, roses, jasmine and honeysuckle, softening hard boundaries and creating a cottage-garden feel.
Our trellis range
- Sevenoaks diamond lattice: a classic diamond pattern, ideal as a fence topper (0.45m x 1.83m).
- Lattice-top fence panels: solid tongue and groove panels with a lattice band on top, such as the Highgate and Mayfair panels, for privacy plus a decorative finish.
- Lattice gates and arches: matching Mayfair lattice-top gates and the Kensington omega garden arch.
How to use trellis
- Fence topper: add 30 to 45cm of height without the solid look of a taller fence.
- Wall-mounted: fix to wall battens with a small gap so plants can twine behind.
- Free-standing screen: fix between posts to hide bins, compost or a seating area.
Trellis FAQs
Do I need planning permission to add trellis to a fence?
In England the total height of a boundary fence plus trellis is usually limited to 2m without planning permission. Check local rules.
Which climbers grow best on trellis?
Clematis, climbing roses, star jasmine and honeysuckle are all easy, fast-growing choices.
How do I fix trellis to a fence?
Screw it to the fence posts or use trellis brackets, keeping the total height within limits.
