Timber fence panels

Fence panels give you a quick way to mark a boundary, add privacy and keep pets and children secure. Panels come in different heights, weave styles and timber types, so check each product page for dimensions, species and treatment before you order.

Choosing a panel

  • Closeboard or overlap styles offer high privacy.
  • Slatted and horizontal styles give a contemporary look.
  • Semi-open panels let light through and reduce wind load.

Planning the run

Measure the boundary, then divide by the panel width, allowing for the width of each post. Order one more post than panels. Check the boundary ownership and any height limits that apply, which are normally 2 metres in a back garden and 1 metre next to a highway, although you should confirm with your local authority.

Posts and fixing

Panels need strong posts, set in concrete or fitted with post spurs. Pick posts with the right section for the panel height; see our fence and screens range, and our posts for matching sizes. Fix with galvanised or stainless screws, or panel clips, and keep panels clear of the ground with a gravel board where you can.

Treatment and care

Fences stand outside in all weather, so a good exterior stain or preservative helps. Re-treat every couple of years, or when the colour fades. See finishes and treatments.

For a more distinctive boundary, take a look at our cedar fence screens. If you are unsure about the quantities, send us your measurements through the quote form or call 0161 504 0011. Shop prices include VAT and UK delivery.
