Quick Bespoke Timber Cladding Delivery: What to Expect
Made-to-order timber has a reputation for taking a long time. When you are working to a programme, that is a worry. A cladding package that arrives late holds up scaffold, labour and everyone downstream.
At Timber Focus, bespoke or painted orders take 5 to 7 working days. This post explains what that covers, what can still slow a job down and how to keep your order moving.
What counts as bespoke or painted?
Two broad types of order fall under the 5 to 7 working day timescale:
- Bespoke orders: boards or mouldings made to a profile or size that is not part of the standard range.
- Painted orders: timber finished in a colour for you. Our range includes SertiWOOD painted external cladding and painted internal cladding, plus black and white painted featheredge.
If you are unsure whether your order counts as bespoke or painted, ask us when you request a quote. For standard items, we do not make a delivery promise on the website, so ask us about your specific order.
Why the timescale is worth planning around
Even a short, defined window helps. Knowing the order will take 5 to 7 working days lets you:
- place the order before the scaffold goes up rather than after
- line up installers for a known week
- avoid paying for idle labour
It is much easier to programme around a clear range than an open “it depends”.
What affects timing
The 5 to 7 working days only works if the order is clear from the start. The usual causes of delay are on the specification side.
Unconfirmed drawings
A bespoke profile needs a final drawing. Changes after the order is placed can mean starting again. See our guide to bespoke cladding and moulding profiles.
Undecided colours
For painted boards, confirm the colour before you order. Check it against a sample, not a screen.
Quantity changes
Adding or reducing quantities late can alter the production run. Measure carefully and allow for waste.
Site access
Delivery is a separate step from production. Tell us about narrow roads, restricted hours or no forklift on site. Our website prices include UK delivery.
Steps to keep your order on time
- Order samples first. Our free timber samples let you settle on timber and colour before the clock starts.
- Finalise the specification. Profile, species, finish, lengths and quantities in writing.
- Send everything at once. Drawings, colour references and delivery details in a single message.
- Confirm and place the order.
- Plan the install around the 5 to 7 working days, with a sensible buffer.
Choosing between standard and bespoke
If your programme is very tight, ask whether a standard profile could work. Many standard products are listed on the site, including external timber cladding. We make no general promise on dispatch times for standard lines, so call us to check on the item you need.
If a standard profile will not do, bespoke is a perfectly workable route, as the timescale shows.
Finishes and fire treatment
If your order includes a finish such as charring or a fire treatment, mention this when you ask for the quote. Different finishes may involve different steps, and we want to give you an accurate answer.
Planning tips for builders and specifiers
- Order early on the critical path. Treat cladding as a long lead item in your own programme, even with a short supply window.
- Keep one point of contact. One person on your side agreeing changes avoids mixed messages.
- Check the delivery on arrival. Count packs, check lengths and look for damage before the driver leaves.
- Store boards properly. Keep them flat, off the ground and covered but ventilated, until fixing.
- Keep paperwork together. Keep any fire certificates or product information alongside your order, and confirm current requirements with building control.
Trends to watch
When more of a building is made off site, cladding decisions tend to move earlier in the programme. For a bespoke or painted order, that favours settling profile, colour and quantities early, then using the 5 to 7 working days for production rather than for decisions. This is a general observation, not a measured figure.
