Using external timber cladding for traditional and contemporary building projects is becoming increasingly popular amongst architects and designers for both major commercial buildings and smaller domestic properties. External timber cladding can enhance the look of a variety of buildings and is available in a range of finishes and profiles to suit every construction type. It is used extensively to clad brick and mortar, timber frame buildings, and increasingly in prefabricated modular buildings. It acts as a weatherboard or ‘rainscreen’ to the wall behind and has the additional benefit of protecting and concealing external insulation on walls. External insulation and wood cladding can deliver the full thermal performance of new buildings or improve the thermal performance of existing buildings. Choosing the right timber for each job is key, considering the expected surface life alongside the required maintenance schedules of the wood. We have a large selection of external timber claddings from SertiWOOD® Painted claddings, DragonWOOD®, Thermowood, Siberian larch, Western Red Cedar, Fire Retardant Cladding, PreAged Old look, Preweathered Silvery Grey Siberian larch, Charred wood in Larch Accoya and Kebony. Upgrade the fire performance of your wood, both internally and externally, with HR Prof. Our premium water-based fire retardant offers complete protection against burning and ignition while prolonging the lifespan of exposed timber under various weather conditions.
HR Prof is environmentally friendly and safe for humans and animals, eliminating the need for protective finishing coats. The product is compatible with most wood species, with consumption rates of 270 ml/m² for standard species and 360 ml/m² for Western Red Cedar.
In certain situations, upgrading the fire performance of wood cladding is essential, such as elevating it from Class D to Class B. We specialize in offering solutions for such scenarios through factory-applied treatments. Our services include issuing a fire treatment certificate, which can be presented to Building Control Approval, demonstrating the declared performance of your wood cladding.
Alternatively, customers may prefer to apply the fire treatment themselves on site. We provide comprehensive guidance and support for such applications, ensuring that the fire treatment process is carried out effectively and efficiently. Whether applied in our facility or on-site, our goal remains the same: to enhance the fire performance of wood cladding to meet the required standards and ensure the safety of your building project. We recommend checking the classification report to ensure that the treatment and species meets the test data and application requirements.
