The World Timber Bank (resulting from a partnership between the CIRAD-Forêt and timberfocus.com) is one of the main services on this website.

It allows wood profesisionals users to find :

- tropical or temperate wood depending on :

* a detailed technical content (description, physical properties, mecanic properties, durability, drying..)

* a visual content (two hi-res pictures : the first one taken from a wood sample, the second one is a macro picture)

* possible applications (application list made with the CIRAD-Forêt)

* its origin (continent, country, ...)

- a tropical or temperate wood provider depending on :

* the kind of supply (log, boule, sawn timber, veneer, …..)
* the timber origin (continent, country, ...)
* its criteria of geographical distribution (continent, country, ...)

Each provider who is registered in the World Timber Bank gets :

* a updatable web page describing its activities
* an extranet where he can upload its own technical specifications (ie : available stock) from a spreadsheet (ie: excel)

You can browse the World Timber Bank for free. You only have to own a Boisnaute © account (subscribe here for free) to view the provider list.

The subscription as a provider is chargeable (to browse the charges : click-here).

At this time, 173 species of timber are registered in the World Timber Bank.
